Amy J. Guilmette

Amy J. Guilmette graduated from Wayne State University with a BS in Dance Education K-12 and a BS in English Secondary Education. She taught dance in the public high school system for four years and currently holds an adjunct faculty position in dance at Henry Ford Community College, where she will direct, the Full Circle Dance Company in the Fall term. A member of the National Dance Education Organization, she is dedicated to continued research in Dance Education. Ms. Guilmette received a 2008 Summer Research Stipend that culminated in the development of a research substantiated pilot creative dance program for at-risk youth. The program focuses on problem-solving and critical thinking pedagogies as applied to creative dance. She intends to spend the summer focusing on grant research and application; to implement this program in both juvenile detention facilities and residential programs for troubled teens. In addition to being an educator, Ms. Guilmette danced professionally with Mack Avenue Dance Company for the 2010-2011 season and has presented her choreography with MADC, at the Oakland Dance Festival, and the American College Dance Festival. Most recently, she performed in Lisa LaMarre’s Koleidicle in the Michigan based modern dance company People Dancing.
